The Ladies Culture Club was originally called the Ladies Afternoon Tea and was created by Olessya Leunenberger in 2019. In 2025, she sold it to two long-standing members, Poppy Bouet and Erica Diazoni.
In 2026, following a member survey, it was decided to move away from Afternoon Teas (although these remain very popular) and focus more on cultural events. In particular, Opera, Ballet, Art appreciation, and fun events in Switzerland, such as polo.
We have several artists as members, as well as executives and entrepreneurs. From CFO's to Economists to people in the fashion industry.
The purpose of this Club is to create a fun, elegant and empowering community with strong feminine energy so that we can get together and enjoy wonderful events and places in fabulous Switzerland.
You do not need to know anything at all about the Ballet, the Opera or even Art. Come to our events, and you will gradually learn through osmosis and friendship.
Membership Cost & How do I apply?
Membership is currently free and the expenses are paid for by Poppy and Erica. We made this decision as the community had become so important both to ourselves and to so many other members.
However, you cannot just become a member; you must apply.
Please send us an email explaining why you are interested in joining the Club and if you know any current members (this is not obligatory, but it is helpful).
Our email address is ladiescultureclub@gmail.com
We will then arrange a Zoom interview and decide.
If a very active member recommends you, we may invite you immediately through either our QR code or a WhatsApp invitation. Your security settings must be open to allow invitations.
We really look forward to meeting you. This Club has been life-changing for many of us, which is why we decided to continue and expand it.
We believe in empowering other women and have a wonderful, positive community.
Welcome!
The Rules
- There is to be no selling of any products without prior permission from Poppy or Erica. The majority of the time, we accept as we wish to support our members, but the selling of any kind of Financial Products are strictly forbidden.
- All members must respect the privacy of other members. The chat and photographs can never be exported. Instagram is encouraged, but before posting photographs of other members, you must obtain their permission. Please note that this rule is based on the Swiss Federal Act of Data Protection.
- Bullying of any kind is unacceptable. If it occurs, we will remove the member from the Club immediately.
- We avoid racial and political discussions.
- For security, unless permission has been granted and we have knowledge of the member's personal circumstances, all members must have avatars with their full name and a proper photograph of themselves. AI-aided photographs are not allowed.
- All new members must sign our Member Liability Contract. All current members are assumed to have read it and to agree with it. If they do not agree with it, they must leave the Club immediately. This is to protect all of our members and the Club owners and to avoid the need for insurance and hence Club Dues. All members must have their own Swiss health insurance and personal liability insurance (which is normally included in your household insurance).
- All members must attend at least one event per year. If you do not attend, your membership will be forfeited. It is very easy to join us for a cup of coffee at Baur au Lac!
- If you accept to attend an event, you must attend unless there is an emergency. Many restaurants and bars require a minimum payment up front when we make a reservation. In this instance, the members must pay in advance and if they cannot come they must organise a substitute guest, preferably another Club member or they lose their deposit.
- If tickets have been paid for in advance by the organisers, you must pay them within two days, or you will lose your membership immediately.
- Most of our events are in chic surroundings, and a decent standard of dress is expected as every person represents the Club
- We have a Club membership at The Shed in Zug. Reservations can only be made by Poppy. All bills must be paid immediately and our behaviour and dress within The Shed Club must be impeccable.
- Staff must be treated with respect at all venues and we usually all leave a tip.
